EXTORTION: OGUN ASSEMBLY PLANS FRESH PROBE OF DEPLOYED DPO

Ogun state house of assembly is to conduct a separate investigation of the corruption allegations against the redeployed divisional police officer (DPO) for Sagamu, John Mark.
The State Police Commissioner, Abdulmajid Alli, had already constituted a panel of senior officers to investigate allegations against the DPO, already redeployed to facilitate the probe.
The house decided to conduct a separate investigation, following the submission of 20 petitions to the house plenary by the house majority leader, Adeyinka Mafe, who claimed to have received them from victims of alleged extortions and illegal arrest in Sagamu by the former DPO.
Speaker of the assembly, Suraj Adekunbi said the petitions would be critically looked into by the house justice, ethics and public petitions committee and all parties involved would be invited.
The speaker lauded the state police commissioner for redeploying the DPO to the state command’s headquarters, and setting up a panel to investigate allegations against him.
The speaker who asked members of the house to improve their relationship with the police, said the conclusion of the investigation would restore public confidence in the police.
