Drug Trafficking: Nigerian to face firing squad in Singapore

A Nigerian, Chijioke Obioha, is about to be executed by firing squad in Singapore for trafficking in hard drugs.

The Singaporean authorities had notified his family based in Nigeria that he will be executed on December 18.

Obioha was arrested since April 9, 2007 with more than 2.4 grams of Cannabis, and a key found in his possession led security operatives to a room where more drug were found.

The date for his execution had been set aside once, but Singapore’s court of appeal had lifted the stay of execution, and ordered he be executed on December 18.

The convict is a Graduate in Industrial Chemistry from the University of Benin and was said to have moved to Singapore in 2005 to join a football club.
