Don’t call Super Eagles World Cup favourites because we beat Argentina – Rohr

Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr has said his team are not yet favourites to win the 2018 World Cup, despite their emphatic win over Argentina in Russia

Rohr after the game said that the team must stay humble and prepare well for the 2018 World Cup.

Nigeria came back from two goals down and defeated Argentina 4-2 at the Krasnodar Stadium in an international friendly game.

Alex Iwobi scored a second half brace, while Kelechi Iheanacho’s superb free-kick and a debut goal by Bryan Idowu helped Nigeria to secure their second victory over Argentina at senior level.

It’s a good victory for us but it doesn’t mean we’ve become favourites to win the World Cup. We stay humble and realise we have more work to do,” Rohr said during his post-match interview.

“We prepared well for this game because playing Argentina is big for us, maybe it is different for them,” he said

The comeback according to Rohr “shows we have great team spirit and determination when you keep fighting after going two goals down against a great team like Argentina.”
