There has been an uproar during the senate session on Wednesday November 30, 2016, with PDP senators staging a walk out in protests.
The walk-out followed the decision of a PDP senator representing Ondo South, Yele Omogunwa, to defect to APC.
The crisis began when the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, read the defecting senator’s letter at the plenary, formally notifying the senate of his decision to quit PDP for APC.
Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio quickly asked the Senate President to declare the seat of the defecting senator open for election on the ground that there is no division in PDP.
But Saraki overruled Akpabio, leading to the walk out of the plenary by the PDP senators.
