Customs intercepts N1.5bn smuggled petrol in Ogun creeks

Nigeria Customs service said its operatives have intercepted petroleum products it valued at N1.5 billion in Ogun State while is was being smuggled to Benin Republic.

The products in 50,000 kegs, according to the agency, were intercepted in creeks at Ijofin in the Ipokia Local Government area in the Yewa axis of the State.

The agency in a statement said its assistant comptroller general, zone a, accompanied by the area comptroller of federal operating unit, Mohammed Aliyu and the Ogun State comptroller, Michael Agbara supervised the operation.

The products were being smuggled in 12 wooden speed boats.
