Court okays Ogun Poll on October 8

Abeokuta High Court has dismissed a petition by a faction of Labour Party to stop the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) from conducting the state’s local Government poll on October 8.

The party had asked the court to shift the poll from October 8, and ordered the electoral agency to accommodate its candidates in the poll.

Ruling on the petition, justice Lanre Mabekoje said the party has not adduced reasonable evidence that OGSIEC deliberately excluded its candidates from participating in the poll on October 8.

The court also awarded n10,000 cost against the petitioners in favour of OGSIEC.
