CJN worried over corruption in Judiciary

Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, has expressed concern over the level of corruption in the judiciary, saying it is the major problem in the judicial sector.

Justice Mohammed, who made this known at the inauguration of a Judicial Ethic committee set up by the National Judicial Council, said corruption in Judiciary had serious implication for the rule of law and access to Justice.

The Judicial Ethic Committee was set up to review the code of conduct for Judicial officers, including Judges, at a time controversy trailed the arrest of some judges by department of security service (DSS).

Meanwhile, the judicial council has launched a code of conduct for judges and other members of Judiciary.
