Police have fired tear gas Cannister to disperse activists in Abuja, who are staging protests against the continued stay of President Muhammadu Buhari in London.
Some of the protesters who were sitting at the Millenium Park opposite Unity Freedom Park were injured, while one of their leaders, Charly Boy, slumped while they were being tear gassed.
The activists, who are members of a coalition of civil society groups, have been staging protests in Abuja since Monday, demanding the return of Buhari, or resign if he is unfit to continue in office.
Reacting to the protests on Monday, Senior Special Assistant to Buhari on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, said there is no basis for the action since President Buhari handed over power in accordance to the provisions of the 1999 constitution before departing Abuja for London.
Over 120 policemen attacked about 10 of us. They used teargas, water cannon & dogs but there's NO GOING BACK.
We continue tomorrow. pic.twitter.com/Dz2zAo7htZ
