Army Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai has alerted that some of Boko Haram sect fighters have fled to different parts of the country, following the military assault on their base in the north east region.
The army chief who made this known in Abeokuta, during a courtesy visit to Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state at the governor office, Oke Mosan, said some of the fleeing terrorists have been arrested.
Buratai who was on a familiarization tour of army formations in Ogun State, urged Nigerians to report any suspicious movement in their areas, as the military gather more intelligence on the movement of the fleeing terrorists.
He said some of the fleeing terrorists are suspected to be part of the armed herdsmen attacking several parts of the country.
Responding, Governor Ibikunle Amosun asked Buratai to consider establishing an army division in the state, while urging the army to end oil pipeline vandalism,the deadly attacks by armed herdsmen and kidnapping in the country.Please subscribe to our newsletter
