Chief Executive Officers of Banks in the country have agreed to suspend the ongoing mass sack of their staff, following the intervention of the presidency and the national assembly.
Chief Executive Officer of the Standard Chartered Bank, Mrs Bola Adesola, made this known at the end of the meeting of the bankers committee in Abuja.
She said while banks are mindful of the implications of sacking of workers, would continue to sack any of their staff found wanting.
Some of the banks including Ecobank, First Bank, Skyebank and Diamond Banks have been reducing their workforce, compelling the presidency to threaten to revoke the license of any bank caught sacking its staff .
Since then, the National Assembly had intervened while the organized labour issued a deadline to banks who recently sacked some of their workers to recall them or it would cripple the banking industry.
