Auxiliary Nurses banned from operating

Ogun State Government has banned unregistered and untrained nurses known as “Auxiliary Nurses” from owning or operating health facilities in the State.

Health Commissioner, Doctor Babatundee Ipaye, announced this while monitoring the level of compliance with the registration and re-validation exercise of private health facilities in the Abeokuta South and Odeda Local Government Areas of the State.

Ipaye says the decision aims at checking quackery and Unprofessionalism in the State Health Sector, which has placed the lives of residents in the state at risk.

During the exercise, the commissioner shut down eight health facilities, including Soffy’s Medical Center, Connerstone Hospital, Omo-Balogun Clinic, Nosirullah Medical Clinic and Maternity Home, Olubusola Maternity Home, Ridiom Clinic and Maternity Home and Eriayo Maternity Home.

No fewer than 66 Health Facilities had been shut since the exercise started last January.
