Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has again called for the restructuring of the country, asking president Buhari to consider transferring some powers of the Federal Government to the States, in order to move Nigeria forward.
Atiku said the federal government under the Present dispensation, lacks the resources to undertake all the responsibilities assigned to it.
The former presidential candidate who made the fresh call for restructuring in Gombe, at the grand finale of the 20 years of Gombe State Creation, said the proposed devolution of powers from the Federal Government, would make the states more viable.
He said the Federal Government should not involve itself in the construction of roads and schools, the sinking of borehole and feeding of school pupils.
Atiku, however, commended Buhari for his courageous leadership in subduing Boko Haram, but said lasting peace will only return to the north east region, after the internally displaced persons had been returned to their homes.
