Anambra civil servants to enjoy new wage from July

Governor Obiano declares November 17 as public holiday ahead of Anambra elections

Anambra state civil servants are to enjoy a new monthly minimum wage, as from July this year.

The state information commissioner, Don Adinuba, announced the proposed new wage while addressing newsmen at the end of the weekly meeting of the state executive council, at the Government House in Awka.

He was silent on the details of the proposed new wage.

The new pay is coming ahead of the national minimum wage which is still being negotiated by tripartite committee set up by the federal government.

The commissioner explained that the state initially plans to pay the new wage as from April, but shift it to April to allow the negotiation of a new national minimum wage.
