Anambra attains self-sufficiency in Rice Production

Anambra state says it has achieved self-sufficiency in the production of rice.

The State Agriculture Commissioner, Afam Mbanefo, made this known in Awka at the consultative meeting of the commodity alliance forum.

He said the state, initially, set a target of producing 210,000 metric tonnes of rice yearly.

The commissioner, however, said the state expected 236,000 metric tonnes based on the yield of 35% of over 14,300 farms and other rice investors, including COSCHARIS Farm and Jospeh Agro.
