The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has said that its planes have been attacking the camps and hideouts of cattle rustlers and armed bandits who have been raiding communities in Zamfara state.

Communities targetted in the attacks are Gidan Garba and Burwaye where the bandits had killed scores of people and destroyed homes in the past two weeks.

Airforce spokesman, Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa listed planes involved in the attacks as Alpha fighter plane, MI-24 attack helicopter and L-39ZA which was recently configured to carry missiles.

Famuyiwa further stated that the attacks aim at paving the way for troops to advance into the forest where the bandits have their camps.
