21,780 Kaduna primary school teachers fail primary four exam

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El Rufai.

21, 780 teachers out of the 33,000 public primary school teachers on the payroll of the Kaduna State government have failed primary four test.

The test, according to the state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, was conducted by the state ministry of education, to test their competence.

The governor who made this known to a team of World Bank at the Government House in Kaduna, said the state government is shopping for new 25,000 teachers, to improve learning in the state’s public primary schools.

The governor blamed the development on the politicization of the recruitment of teachers by the previous administration in the state.

“We tested our 33,000 primary school teachers, we gave them primary four examination and required they must get at least 75 per cent but I am sad to announce that 66 per cent of them failed to get the requirements.

“The hiring of teachers in the past was politicized and we intend to change that by bringing in young and qualified primary school teachers to restore the dignity of education in the state,” the governor said.
